Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs)

Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) are a common condition which typically affect women. Symptoms may include pain and a burning sensation when urinating, nausea and vomiting, pain in the lower back or sides, and even blood in the urine. If left untreated, UTIs can lead to serious complications, so it’s important to discuss any concerns with us once they arise.

If you feel that you are experiencing symptoms of a UTI, our pharmacists are available for a consultation. Depending on the nature and duration of your symptoms our pharmacists may be able to provide you with an antibiotic treatment without the need for a doctor consultation. If it is not appropriate for us to provide you with antibiotics under these circumstances we will refer you to your GP.

Other self-care tips to assist in the treatment of a UTI include

  • drinking plenty of water
  • wearing cotton underwear and avoiding tight fitting clothing
  • urinating as soon as you feel the need to, rather than holding it in
  • take a shower rather than a bath where possible
  • using a mild soap and making sure to wash it off thoroughly

Treatment provided under this program will incur the cost of the medication, together with a consultation fee. Please speak to our staff for more details about these fees.
